It was a joyous moment for patients in three hospitals
across Anambra following the visit by a son of the State Governor, Chinua
Soludo, to share with them in the spirit of Christmas.
The unscheduled visit saw the governor’s son clear the medical bills of many of the patients.
The hospitals visited included public hospitals Adazi-Nnukwu
in Anaocha LGA, Nnobi in Idemili South and Ekwulobia in Aguata LGA.
At St. Joseph Hospital Adazi-Nnukwu, in Anaocha LGA, Anambra
State, Mr. Soludo not only cleared outstanding hospital bills for many, but
also gave some transport fares to facilitate their smooth return to their homes
to join their families to celebrate Christmas.
In all, Mr. Soludo’s outreach at St. Joseph Hospital
impacted more than five patients whose bills were cleared.
In one instance, a patient who owed the hospital over nine
hundred thousand Naira and had been detained after her discharge had her bill
of N933, 500 cleared by Chinua, and was also assisted with transportation fare
back to her home.
At the Nnobi General Hospital, a patient who had been treated for acute malaria
was billed over N120,000, which was promptly cleared, and the patient went home
to share the joy of Christmas with the family.
In Ekwulobia, Chinua extended his Christmas hospital outreach to Ekwulobia
General Hospital, where almost 10 women were assisted with their bills and
transportation fare.
Around this time last year, Chinua Soludo was at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu
Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Awka, on a similar outreach and cleared the hospital
bills of tens of patients.
This gesture of kindness by Mr Soludo was warmly received by
beneficiaries and their relatives, who offered prayers for divine blessings and
God’s protection upon him.
Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of
Idemili South, Hon Amaka Obi described the gesture as evident to the compassion
and empathy which the Chukwuma Soludo administration embodies.
Hon Obi appreciated the governor’s son,
adding that the disposition was borne out of love for the suffering.
